Expect the Unexpected:

Computer data is one of your most precious personal and business assets.  Unfortunately, it's also the most fragile property you might own.  A disk crash or a simple human error can wipe out all your irreplaceable work.  When it comes to data backup, good intentions aren't nearly enough.

Most computer users know that they're supposed to back up their data.  It takes time and discipline to follow a regular backup schedule. However, it is easy to tell yourself that nothing bad is likely to happen.  When you don’t have an up-to-date data backup, you are taking a chance of losing them.

In a business, teaching all employees about the company's backup systems, and reinforcing the idea that they must take responsibility for their own data, is the best insurance against irretrievable losses.

At home, save all your personal data in one centralized directory to simplify your data backup process.  Create sub-folders within that directory to help you organize your data files from different applications.  Have two or more copies of your complete data backup and store them at a safe place so a thief can’t easily find them.  Backup your data regularly and as needed.

So back it up, back yourself up.
