AV Music Morpher - XP - Free software with a remarkable suite of tools for editing music.
Duplicate Music Files - XP/Vista - Find duplicate music files and delete them.
FoxyTunes (for IE) - XP/etc. - a toolbar for controlling a multitude of media players including windows Media Player, winAmp, and iTunes from within the browser.
 
CD/DVD:
 
Daemon Tools Lite - XP/Vista/etc. - emulates CD/DVD drives by loading disc images into memory.
DeepBurner Free - XP/etc. - A effective burning program, but it's limited to basic tasks.
DVD Decrypter - Copy video DVD to your computer hard drive with one mouse click, removes all the protections while copying.
DVDFab HD Decrypter 5.0.2.0 or Free DVD - DVDFab HD Decrypter is a simple version of DVDFab Platinum. It copies entire DVD movie to hard disk, and removes all the protections (CSS, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs and Sony ARccOS) while copying. It also comes with full HD-DVD and Blu-Ray support (Removes AACS).  Free DVD removes several protections from a DVD folder on the hard disk. It removes region code (RC), region code enhancement (RCE), analog copy protection, and user operation prohibitions (UOPs).
DVD Shrink - XP/etc. - Back up your movies on DVD to your hard drive.
JetAudio Basic 7.0.5 (or from download.com) - XP/Vista/etc. - full-featured media player that can rip and burn CDs, also displays dozens of Internet-based radio stations.
Visual CD - XP/Vista/etc. - Create searchable catalogs of pictures, video, music and other files that you've moved onto dvd's or other optical media.
